Homeland Security is now an important aspect when importing products. The ‘Customs Small Business Program’ is a great place to access important security issues when importing in www.cbp.gov
The US Customs Department has developed strict guidelines for importing products into the US. The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are now under the US Department of Homeland Security (www.dhs.gov). Increased domestic security has created new regulations for importing into the US. One of the new regulations is the 24 hour rule of the Automated Manifest System or AMS. This 24 Hour AMS rule requires presentation of the cargo declaration 24 hours before lading of the vessel. You must insist that foreign exporters adhere to US Department of Homeland Security regulations or you can find yourself with delays and troubles.
The Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) is now implementing the C-TPAT or Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism. This partnership is between customs and industry leaders regarding strengthening supply chain security. Understanding US Customs regulations before you make importing arrangements will help map out the most expedient method for importing and distributing your merchandise once it arrives.

I know nothing about how to raise chickens when I started
(9) nine years ago.

All I knew was that I wanted to have a few chickens laying

50 rabbits

ducks and 14 farm cats

NOT BAD if i say so myself...considering I did not know

Have I had failures and lost some money……………….YES

What would you do if your employer gave you a choice between being fired and taking an early retirement? The economic situation in the USA is in less than good shape. People have lost jobs, homes, etc. The government says it’s getting better, but who knows? Let me share with you what the government is not telling you. Many people started businesses in the Great Depression Era. That helped themselves and others to pull themselves up from poverty and hunger.

Grown men do get greatly concerned about how they are going to help their wife earn money and pay the bills. Grown men even cry sometimes. Grown men with a positive mental attitude may be in a very unpleasant situation. But they know that something will come about that will enable them to start from where they are at and greatly improve their lot in life.

If you want to do better than you are, you will find a way. If you want to do better than your current situation, you will be looking, and when that chance comes along you will grab hold and ride it to success.

I am not going to try and impress you with how many thousands of dollars I have made. It would not impress me and most likely would not impress you.

The low product development cost and low production cost there, of many of these countries, lends itself to great importing prices for you.
If you do a Google search for a product name or concept, you will find a lot of China suppliers/manufacturers. Not to mention several other countries. However, you still think you have a supplier, because you want to find a capable and reliable one that can satisfy your specific needs. They need to have a strong desire to do business with you. Many people get frustrated because they have been communicating with suppliers in China for months, but are no closed to an agreement, than they were on the first day of talks. To be successful you need to know the parameters, of your operation, and those of your source. To find a suitable China supplier, you need a strategy. Do some research to develop your category of your specific needs? Keep track of who you contact to help you record the search result, so the job can be done more efficiently and effectively. If you are a small business and need dedicated attention, you may want to develop a good relationship with a small family-owned business.

Analyzing the types of suppliers has strategic importance. Do your homework; check out the companies, who want to do business with you. Just because they are ranked higher in Google search listing, this does not necessarily mean it is a more serious business. Do your homework
When you send out inquiries you may get a lot of replies from suppliers of all kinds. Some guys may continuously send you product info for years, and are able to pass through all sorts spam protection. You may want to set up an email account, just to handle these replies, until you settle on the one your going to use.
Email is good for exchanging product specifications, catalogue and price list. To establish a deeper relationship, a phone call is much better than email. A person to person meeting is even better than a phone call. With internet technology as it is today, you can do a web-cam chat and that is far cheaper, than flying to China. Most of your contact persons speak and/or writs English. Work with suppliers that have already exported their products to Europe or the US. Pay attention to the agent relationship. Many manufacturers may have their products exported to the US in good quantity through a third party supplier without an exclusive supply agreement. They may want to have direct channels to the US, and that might mean more business for you.

Almost Spring on the Farm

It is starting to be spring baby time on the farm. Babe is starting to grow from a bottle baby into a handsome and sound Billy goat (buck). Sissy is running wild in the woods eating all of the new vegetation coming. Hens are giving eggs, again. Sure can get very busy all of a sudden. The Herd Syndrome

Today is Tuesday Feb. 10, 2009

Let start by asking you some serious questions.

Are you a follower or a leader?

Do you do what everyone else is doing?

Do what others say you need to do to

          “GETRICH”?

OR

Do you make your own decisions?

Do you go the other way when people are going in the other

direction?

Last Question for now anyway.

With a virtual international recession in progress.  Are

you ready to take charge of your present and by doing this

control your future economic situation?

This may really offend and/or hurt your feelings – But

it’s true

The Herd Mentality - The majority of people in life and

especially on the internet are followers of the herd.

I was out on the small farm today, as I am everyday, Taking

care of the animals. We have goats, rabbits, chickens

(layers), and Geese. I needed for the chickens to move to a

new “free range” area. I told them to move and they did

not listen. However, I threw some feed in the area where I

wanted them to go, AND guess what. A couple of them saw

the feed thrown and started running to it. Well the others

saw the two (2) chickens running and gave chase after them.

On the farm we call this the Herd/flock mentality.

Some times I cannot help but reflect on the similarities

between animals and people. We humans are supposed to be

stand alone, do it our self people as being above the animal

world. We are given dominion over the animals. However, most

of us act just like the animal world.

Well we do. We state that we are more than able to walk,

talk, and chew gum at the same time. In fact, a lot of us

follow someone else, in our walking. Say what virtually

everybody else is saying in our talking. Plus, we chew the

exact brand and flavor of gum that everyone else does. Why?

Glad you asked. Becasue a lot of people do not have self

confidence. It is easier to follow and do what everyone

else is doing. THE HERD MENTALITY

We are able to conceive ideas, ways and things that our

sub-level animal friends cannot and/or do not. But

seriously folks most animals have more sense than some of

us humans.

Most of the time it does not make any difference what the

latest, greatest, popular get rich now internet program is.

We have to have it and we flock to it like a flock of farm

chickens following one or two other chickens who think they

see something they want and want to be the first one to get

it. Well if the others are going to get it then so am I.

Everyday I get, as I am sure you do, numerous emails

promoting e-books,programs, etc that will make me rich

overnight. Plus if I buy now, join now I will get rich even

faster. Here on our farm, just off the two lane country

road, in North Carolina we call that “bull doukee” AKA

(cow do-key).

Let share and propose this to you. Anything that lasts and

is worthwhile is obtained by working for it.  There is

something extremely gratifying about looking at work we

have done and knowing we worked hard for it and no one gave

it to us. We have not and are not relaying on someone else

to determine our success and progress.

it on eBay. AND Make a profit. Not to get rick quick, but

develop a program that would allow mw to generate a fair

profit margin over an n extended duration.

I was not able to develop a workable program overnight. I

was not able to do so in a week or so. I was however, able

to develop this program over a period on eighteen months. I

was not then nor and I now being greedy. I will give you all

Using Los Angeles as Your Port of Entry

LOS ANGELES—The Port of Los Angeles is considering canceling a contract with a Chinese company to purchase a cargo-scanning X-ray machine after the machine failed field tests.

The $2.4 million Mobile Linear Accelerator X-ray Scanning Unit, which is mounted on the back of a truck, is supposed to look for dangerous devices in cargo.

But the scanner experienced several failures and did not meet up to expectations, officials said. Among the problems: It failed to operate properly without help from a special technician.

The device is made by Nutech Inc., believed to be headed by the son of Chinese President Hu Jintao. The company submitted its bid through its local representative, DULY Research Inc., of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Opponents have argued that the port should not rely on a political adversary such as China to supply equipment used for national security purposes.

But DULY President David Yu said the port's plan to return the device is not the right decision, and he disputed the port's assessment that the machine had 10 deficiencies.

"We provided the port with the best X-ray scanner in the world," he told the Los Angeles Times. "It's been in the port since July 2008, and they still haven't paid us for it."

The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners was expected to vote Thursday night whether to cancel the contract. If the board does so, cargo at the port will be inspected by police until replacement technology can be found, the Port Said.

OK, here it is. The premise of the article is this, you need to understand importing 101, if you plan to import and sell on eBay or any other auction site, or engage in international trade that requires importing something from other countries to The USA and/or your country. We import and sell on eBay, trade shows, flea markets, etc. Importing is so easy that anyone can do it. Importing goes as far back as the concept of trading because you have to get goods and materials that you do not have, from where they are, to where you are. You may need to import a particular item even if it is available in the country, when you can get it from another country at less money. One must understand some common sense aspects related importing.

Things/questions you may need to consider: What do I want to import? How much money do I have to spend? What can I sell it for? What is the total cost required to buy and sell the item? Who has this item? Who do I need to contact, or bring on board to make this work? Consult professional legal experts prior to and while you are talking with prospective suppliers. The very first person and/or company you should contact is a certified and approved United States customs brokerage firm. Do a goggle search, if you do not know of one. Share with them that you are new to this. Let them know all you know at this point. Then, ask them what you need to do. They will share with you virtually all you need to know. Cost to get this advice Zero Dollars You do not necessarily need to sign a contract, with your supplier. Find out how and when monies from you to them are due. Do not worry about the exchange rate the supplier already knows how many US Dollars they need to sell you their items, and they know exactly how many U.S. Dollars it will take to ship them to you. Some of these high dollar self proclaimed importing experts tell you to get familiar with all those import regulations, tariffs, duties etc. Hog Wash, The customs broker that you have been talking too. Guess what Bubba? They already know the laws, regulations, etc that you will be involved with. That's why you get a customs broker. OH, Did I share with you that you do not pay the customs broker, until your goods get to them, or whatever place you having them sent too. There again, they will let you know how much and when to pay.

Some self proclaimed experts tell ya to take care that you are complying with all the rules and regulations, that you need to plan for transportation, storage, insurance and documentation, and then show this to a legal expert, pay them for their advice. Get all these documents and terms of the contract examined by the legal experts. Hog Wash, Or, you can let the customs broker take care of most if not all of these factors, for you. Cost for the broker to do this Zero Dollars. Some importers buy and deal with the manufacturer or supplier of the goods. Some like to outsource these details to someone else that will handle all the issues related to the importing and purchase from him. However, dealing with the manufacturer or supplier is the best method, as it requires that you should be personally in touch with the overseas supplier of the material. Oh did I share with you that this generates the most profit.

Surplus fell to $38.98 billion in December from November's record of $40.1 billion, the General Administration of Customs said on Tuesday.

The surplus for all of 2008 reached a record $295.46 billion, up from $262.2 billion in 2007.

Exports fell 2.8 percent in December from a year earlier, while imports fell 21.3 percent, the customs administration said on its website www.customs.gov.cn

It was the second consecutive monthly decline in both exports and imports. Exports and imports dropped in November by 2.2 percent and 17.9 percent, respectively.

Economists had expected a $35.0 billion surplus based on a 4.0 percent fall in exports from a year earlier and a 20.0 percent drop in imports.It is time to call or contact your contacts in China and play lets make a deal.

Wow my friend I got a thought provoking email from a subscriber today. I say this because it made me sit back and look at just what I am doing in this Internet Marketing thing…..and even more so “WHY”

Sales were going good and then I got laid off.

I prayed for a "What do I do now LORD" Well since I never learned how to quit I did not do it. I took what I had, wrote to anyone and everyone who would listed. Some very big REAL Internet Super Stars came to my aide..... I worked 14-16 hours a day 6 days a week and 1/2 Sun for about 8 mos, then went back to work. By then I was not sure my job would not get in the way of the internet.

Wow G last month I had my 64th ... its a blessing

"DON"T" quit your day job. Do both. If you want this bad enough you will find both the avenue to go down and the time to start on your trip.

Now here is my day.

I now get up about 6:30-7:30...most days

grab coffee,,,, very big cup

head to the office....down stairs

fire up the computer for about 2-3 hours.

Go work from 10am -8pm 2 days a week
Go to work 12noon-8:pm 2 days a week

Come home feed water, fix fence, tend to sick animals, etc. TAKE SHOWER, EAT SUPPER WITH MY bride

get ON internet UNTIL ABOUT 12 MIDNIGHT OR UNTIL SHE SAYS bed TIME

OH I ALSO PASTOR A SMALL CHURCH

even find time for a round of golf most weeks

Am I making a living....YES....

Am I making all I need....NO

BUT I WILL

I cannot give you a reason why...that has to come from you.

Heard a saying once... Find a plan that works for you and then work the plan

"My saying is You have to start from where you are at"

Does What I do and others do work, for me it does. May not work for you. But then if you do not try how you will ever know?

I think I am a winner, God thinks I am a winner....Just not crossed the finish line yet

Unless you have an extensive and unending cash flow you need to reduce your business cost. We are attempting to share some ideas with you.

You can use the famous ole barter system. If you have a business you should be bartering goods and services with other businesses. You should try to trade for something before you buy it. Bartering usually requires little or no money.

Nothing works like networking with your business peers and/or your general friends and acquaintances. Try to network your business with other businesses. This could result in trade leads or mailing lists. This will cut down on your marketing and advertising costs. Networking may also lead into the bartering goods and services, as mentioned above.

Buying in a wholesale manner and in a large enough amounts is an excellent method of reducing business expenses. This works at the start up and through out the business venture.

You can save money buying your business supplies in large quantities. You could get a membership at a wholesale warehouse or buy them through a mail order wholesaler. Buy the supplies you are always running out of. You may even go in with other businesses that use some of the same products and then split out what each of you needs.

Free stuff is always good for saving money. While you’re looking thru the internet and other sources just are careful, not to give out personal or business information that is not absolutely needed. You should try visiting the thousands of freebie sites on the internet before buying your business supplies. You can find free software, graphics, backgrounds, online business services etc. As in the case of Internet Marketing, there are many items, articles, and e-books that are free. You can and need to always try negotiating the lowest price for any business equipment or supplies, or service. It doesn't hurt to ask or try, to get a lower figure. Be honest in your approach. I share with the person I am talking to and just let them know. We are small, but growing. Work with us now, and as we grow we will still buy from you. Then keep your word.

We have used many if not all of the business expense reduction tips found here, for setting up our Importing Business, that allows us to sell on eBay and other auction sites. Some work quickly, some work a little slower. However, by and large they do all work.

1. Borrow/Rent
Have you ever purchased business equipment you only needed for a small period of time? You could have just borrowed the equipment from someone else or rented the equipment from a "rent-all" store. I know a business owner, who did buy a piece of machinery, new. After using it he resold it as used and recouped all of his investment.

2. Search
You can always be searching for new suppliers for your business supplies and equipment. Look for suppliers with lower prices and better quality. Don't just be satisfied with a few. Ask some of your business associates, who they get their supplies, etc from. Then drop the referring businesses name to the person your talking to about buying supplies.

3. Negotiate
You should always try negotiating a lower price for any business equipment or supplies. It doesn't hurt to try. Pretend you are talking to a salesman at a car lot. Use the honest approach. I share with the person I am talking to and just let them know. We are small, but growing. Work with us now, and as we grow we will still buy from you. Then keep your word

4. Barter

5. Online/Offline Auctions

In this series of paragraphs we shall attempt to spur your interest in starting to develop an import plan. It is not as hard as some may tell you it is. Anyone can do it. All you need to do is try and do not stop trying. Plan on how to plan your plan and then sell on eBay.
An important component of an import plan is market research. Identifying and evaluating the target market will enable you to: Understand the industry structure, Predict product demand, Identify competition, Determine product modifications needed. Research your industry sector in the import market, finding out the opportunities and growth areas, as well identifying any barriers. At this stage, it is also a good idea to create a basic customer profile for your product.
Importing game plan and/or strategy is the next step is to develop an import strategy, defining how you will enter the foreign market and find trade leads. Decide whether you will be importing indirectly through intermediaries - which will require finding overseas representation - or doing it yourself. The latter option means you'll have to consider how to promote the products abroad and what type of after-sales support you will be able to provide.
It is important to consider product pricing and quotes, methods of payment, shipping terms and costs in order to accurately calculate your expenses and budget for them accordingly. Next, ensure that you understand and comply with the rules and regulations of international trade. Being aware of such rules will help you convert them from barriers into benefits.
Financing considerations are how you will finance your import plans, including calculations on your expenses such as salaries, travel, advertising, distribution, production, etc. State whether the daily operations will be funded from an outside source or internally. Include a projected sales forecast in your export plan - this will help you to measure success.
Implementation and planning are the last step is to identify milestones or time frames for key tasks. This will help you to evaluate your progress and communicate expectations your staff. Your import plan should include dates for major tasks and identify parties responsible for the tasks. Ensure that employees and partners are able conduct their specific duties, employ people with relevant import qualifications and/or provide training to existing staff. The key personnel involved in the importing process should also have involvement in building and agreeing the import plan, as they will help execute it. At the outset your import plan will probably be quite simple and brief since some areas may require further research. However, the import plan should become more detailed and complete as you and your team become more experienced.

I cannot share all of the things you need to know to sell cars at online auctions; however, here are a few tips for those people who are shopping for a vehicle online:

Ask the seller if you can stop by and see the vehicle in person. Someone who doesn't actually have the vehicle in his or her possession will almost certainly refuse. Even if you have no intention of paying a visit, just asking to see it could be useful.

Watch out for auctions that feature stock photos or photos from brochures. Anyone with a real car to sell should be able to take a picture of it.

Beware of any seller who will only accept a wire transfer for payment.

Beware of a seller who says the vehicle is in another country but offers to pay the shipping to the United States. This is a common ruse used by scammers in other countries.

Watch out for a vehicle that is offered for sale at a price that seems too inexpensive for the model. A $25,000 car offered for $10,000 should set off bells in your head.

If on eBay, check the seller's transaction history to see if they have a record of actually selling vehicles. The premise of the article is this, you need to understand importing 101, if you plan to import and sell on eBay or any other auction site, or engage in international trade that requires importing something from other countries to The USA and/or your country. We import and sell on ebay, trade shows, flea markets, etc. Importing is so easy that anyone can do it. Importing goes as far back as the concept of trading because you have to get goods and materials that you do not have, from where they are, to where you are. You may need to import a particular item even if it is available in the country, when you can get it from another country at less money. One must understand some common sense aspects related importing.
Things/questions you may need to consider: What do I want to import? How much money do I have to spend? What can I sell it for? What is the total cost required to buy and sell the item? Who has this item? Who do I need to contact, or bring on board to make this work? Consult professional legal experts prior to and while you are talking with prospective suppliers. The very first person and/or company you should contact is a certified and approved United States customs brokerage firm. Do a goggle search, if you do not know of one. Share with them that you are new to this. Let them know all you know at this point. Then, ask them what you need to do. They will share with you virtually all you need to know. Some self proclaimed experts tell ya to take care that you are complying with all the rules and regulations, that you need to plan for transportation, storage, insurance and documentation, and then show this to a legal expert, pay them for their advice. Get all these documents and terms of the contract examined by the legal experts. Hog Wash, Or, you can let the customs broker take care of most if not all of these factors, for you. Cost for the broker to do this Zero Dollars. Some importers buy and deal with the manufacturer or supplier of the goods. Some like to outsource these details to someone else that will handle all the issues related to the importing and purchase from him. However, dealing with the manufacturer or supplier is the best method, as it requires that you should be personally in touch with the overseas supplier of the material. Oh did I share with you that this generates the most profit.
